Okokodurfo Ogyeabo Nana Kwamena Hammah Ababio is the Paramount Chief of the Efua Ajumako Traditional Area and President of the Ajumako Traditional Council in Ghana’s Central Region. Revered for his wisdom and longevity in traditional leadership, he is the longest-serving Paramount Chief at the Central Regional House of Chiefs and is widely recognized as a “Senior Minister” among his peers in chieftaincy governance.

Since assuming leadership in 1954, Nana has dedicated his life to fostering peace, unity, and socio-cultural progress in his community and beyond. He is deeply knowledgeable in chieftaincy affairs and is frequently called upon to mediate conflicts and offer guidance on traditional matters of national importance. His leadership extends to the Judicial Committee of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, where he continues to serve with distinction. He was a Member of the National House of Chiefs from 2010 to 2014 and contributed significantly to policy research and advisory roles as part of the Research Committee of the Central Regional House of Chiefs between 2006 and 2010.

With strong communication skills, a strategic mind for planning, and a steady hand in monitoring and evaluation, Nana has played a vital role in shaping local development. His vision is rooted in a society where people enjoy security, employment opportunities, and a deep respect for traditional authority. He is widely regarded as a pillar of wisdom, justice, and forward-thinking leadership.

Among his many developmental contributions, Nana successfully advocated for the extension of Ghana Water to the Efua Ajumako Traditional Area. He was instrumental in the establishment of the University of Education, Ajumako Campus, and played a leading role in the creation of the Ajumako District Assembly. He also championed the formation of the Ajumako District Police Command, further demonstrating his commitment to the safety and advancement of his people.

Nana Kwamena Hammah Ababio began his formal education in 1947 and attended Adisadel College in 1955 before continuing his studies at Presbyterian Secondary School in Krobo Odumase in 1956. He speaks English, Twi, and Fante fluently, which allows him to engage across diverse communities with ease and authority.
