Dr Wiredu Jonathan Casely is a financial governance, risk management, and internal audit professional with over ten years of progressive experience in public financial management, institutional accountability, and internal control systems across both public and private sector organisations in Ghana. He has built a strong career in strengthening governance frameworks, improving compliance systems, and enhancing financial transparency within regulated environments, with practical experience spanning academia, banking, revenue administration, and corporate operations.
He has previously served in key audit, finance, and governance roles across multiple institutions, including Ghana Communication Technology University, where he contributed to strengthening internal audit systems, risk-based auditing, and institutional compliance frameworks. He also worked as an Internal Auditor at Bisvel Communication Limited, focusing on revenue assurance, stock control, and fraud prevention. Earlier in his career, he served in the accounts section of Capital Rural Bank Limited, supporting financial reporting, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance. His professional foundation was further shaped through national service at the Ghana Revenue Authority, an internship at Sunyani Municipal Hospital, and managerial responsibilities at Alisad Enterprise and Construction Limited, where he handled financial oversight, stock control, and operational supervision.
His academic and professional qualifications include a PhD in Accounting from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa; membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ghana (ICAG); and certification as a Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA) from the Corporate Finance Institute (CFI), Canada. He is also an active researcher in accounting and audit innovation, with a focus on the application of artificial intelligence in internal audit functions within public universities in Ghana. His published and ongoing research includes “Perceptions of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing Fraud Detection and Internal Controls in Public Universities in Ghana” (2025), which explores how AI enhances fraud detection and strengthens internal control systems in higher education institutions.
